		16 at lunch with  speaker and  1 guest a, future member and one member inductee.  Pot was at a low $133 when bill Becker ( no - that's right Becker again) picked a false queen - so no winner.  Dr. Joseph Roberson MD of the California Ear Institute Talked about hearing problems in babies and Cochlear Implants. He mentioned a bill before congress to make it a requirement for all babies to be tested at birth for hearing defects.  He pointed out that there was a device for testing the new-born to see if their hearing is working by reading the brainwaves.  This is important because the brain will not learn to deal with sounds if hearing was impaired and could be enhanced with the implant . Fixing it later is not as good as fixing it early to permit the correct development.  He quoted numbers in the many millions of hearing deficient babies being born. Dr Roberson has traveled the world teaching the implant procedure.  He had a video of a 9000 bed hospital in China the world's largest.  Click Here to see the Let them Hear website for yourself.
