19 at lunch today including the guest and the past Lt Gov Glen
Behm. Glen was close by and just came as a Kiwanian and being
lucky had his ticket called for $5, Donna C won the attendance pick
of the day. Marsh
Eddleman Director of Development for the Samaritan
House talked about the Neighbor helping Neighbor
program that provides food, shelter, health care, clothing, Holiday
assistance to people in need totally free. This help is offered to
individuals and families and also includes food and shelter to those
workers you see on street corners waiting for day jobs. The
program is impressive and has thousands of volunteers. Meals
prepared each year amount to 125,000. Food of course is
provided by local markets and by one of our projects, the 2nd
Harvest food Bank, so do your part on the next food bank call.
Marsha gave out a folder thick with info on the program and
the list of volunteers needed, donation envelope and a very well
done 10 minute dvd on the program. If you wish to see more click here
to visit their web site. The headquarters is located on
Claremont street in San Mateo, and have medical clinics on 39th as well as
in Redwood city, other services are provided in other locations
thru-out the county. I urge you to call 650.341.4081 to offer
your support and see if there any volunteer positions you can fill. Til we wade once more Ron D
